Our New Place

So this post will basically be me complaining about our new apartment. When I'm done I'll try to not complain about it anymore.

We're on the ground floor...So needless to say our apartment is filled with bugs. Living on the third floor for 2 years I've been spoiled with little to no bugs most of the time, and I think all the bugs got together and decided to make up for lost time. I told Cody when we first moved in that I feel like I'm at summercamp. I'm always finding bugs and Cody's getting sick of killing them for me. Luckily he still will...He just has to get up and get a tissue and kill a bug about every 4 minutes. Tonight I found my own while he was at work. I was trying to get all our dirty clothes together to do some laundry and when I lifted up a pillow near the bed there was a GIANT spider underneath. I think it might've been a hobo. It was on MY SIDE OF THE BED. I was FURIOUS. Most of the time when Cody's here I don't get mad at the bugs...They just freak me out. But when I'm home alone and a bug shows itself, I get so peeved. I ran and grabbed my flip-flop, then realized what I was holding and ran back and grabbed Cody's church shoe and went to show it who's boss. It was gone. It had disappeared into my sweatshirt. Oh I was even MORE mad! I was like-I'm going to kill you HARD. It crawled onto a box and I happily, but disturbingly, killed it. I just got home from doing laundry and another bug, a big, black one, crawled across our living room floor and under our entertainment center. I don't know if we can call our landlords and make them spray for bugs or something...But this is probably my biggest complaint.

After we moved out of our apartment we spent 9 1/2 hours cleaning it. We scrubbed and polished and dusted and vacuumed EVERY possible part of that apartment. And I was glad we did...It was nice to know that we lived in a place that someone was required to do that for us. No one was required to clean in our apartment now. At least not well. At all. Maybe I'm just too nit-picky, but the blinds are DISGUSTING, there was a dead bug on the sink, there's hair in the toilet, all the baseboard corners are covered in dirt and the sink area hadn't been scoured or even wiped off really. Like....Hi. Are you kidding me? Clean your freaking apartment. I'm sure the people that lived here before us were nice, friendly, normal people...But I still don't want to clean their hair out of the toilet. Sick.

There are a lot of broken things. Our towel rack is completely broken off on one side. It stays up if you don't touch it... but when you try to grab your towel off of it, it'll crash to the ground. Also, someone cut a piece of a blind out of the guest bedroom window...I dont' really know if someone cut it off...but it's missing and it creeps me out. I'm already scared enough living on the ground floor (I wake up in the middle of the night and look out the window expecting to see someone staring back at me), and I don't want to have to worry about someone having a total clear shot of my baby once she's here. Creepy! In our room, our blinds (the part that you twist to open or close them) are held together by a paperclip. Ghetto anyone? And my personal favorite, our keys don't fit our deadbolt. COOL, eh?! They don't even go in. I called the landlords today and they said they'd figure out what to do and call me back..Did they ever call back? HA. So 3 hours later (30 minutes before they closed) I called them and they were like...Oh yeah...When do you want that done by? I was like-Today would be nice, but if you can't do it now, it HAS to be done TOMORROW. They were like...Ok...well we can either buy a new deadbolt and install it, or you can. I was like-Are you kidding?! YOU CAN. AH! Super, super frustrated.

Anyway. The whole point of this complaining blog was because I'm so mad about all these stupid bugs...We dont have AC anymore so we open the windows at night...But not anymore! I'm not letting the bugs have any advantage in getting in here. Which just makes me more mad because I feel like they're making me change my lifestyle because they're so awful...haha stupid bugs! I just hate you!!!

Just wanted to add-- I trapped 2 more big, black bugs about 5 minutes ago under cups for Cody to kill when he gets home. One escaped so I put our scriputres on top of the cups to keep them there. I really want to go to bed...but there's no safe place! The big, black bugs are in the living room, I found the giant spider in our bedroom, and HECK NO to sleeping on the floor. AH! Maybe I'll break in to our old apartment and sleep there. Aw, I miss it.

man, that stinks!! It was about the opposite last time we moved. We lived on the bottom floor before and there were bugs EVERYWHERE. And mostly just gigantic spiders. Now we live on the third floor and have no bugs. I'm sure once you're all moved in and comfortable it will turn into "home". I wanna see some pics!

are these the ones we used to live in???!!! It sounds horrible! We lived on the top floor. But we didn't have bugs. However the people before us didn't clean because we needed them out like ASAP. So they kind of cleaned but it was gross. I used a LOT of bleach. I'm so sorry! I hate bugs too!!!!

You poor girl! I really hate spiders & bugs as well - ever since it warmed up we have spiders coming out of the woodwork like crazy & Lorin sprays for them like once a week. Anyway - when I lived with my Grandparents I did the same thing - hiding spiders under cups & making Lorin (or my poor Grandma) get them. :) I hope it gets better, ask to have the place sprayed & good luck! I seriously get freaked out that we have black widows outside & that they are laying their nasty eggs everywhere!!!

Stacey you poor thing! I hate bugs too! I would definitely ask the landlords if they would spray. That's totally gross to think about bringing your baby home to that. Hopefully they go away soon. Good luck fixing it all up and making it a place of your own that you're not scared of! :)

That sounds horrible! You should get some spray at Walmart and spray it around the edge of your apartment. It worked for us. I think they also have things that you can plug into an outlet and it is supposed to put out a frequency that makes the bugs and spiders stay away. Who knows if it works, but it is worth a shot! Sorry about all those nasty bugs. I was laughing at the part where you saved the bugs for Cody to kill. I make Clint kill bugs too.

That was the funniest post I've ever read! (I'm really so sorry about the bugs and ghetto-ness...really.) The fact that you took the time to replace your flip flop with Cody's shoe just cracks me up!!!!

I totally understand what you are going through! The apartment we just moved into has so many spiders. I killed about 7 the first 3 hours we were there. Then I went outside and there were spider webs all over the grass with spiders living in them. Their favorite place to live is right outside our windows! I cried a lot. Seth almost asked if we could back out of the contract but instead asked for bug sprayers to come. They did and sprayed inside and out. Our poor husbands that have to kill the nasty things!

and to think that Grandpa Walt just helps them out of his house carefully so that they can live outside!!!! I say, if a spider comes in my house - he DIES!!! And good job at killing the spider on your own - but changing to use Cody's shoe and not a flip flop!! :)

Hey! Where did you go? I miss you! How's the third trimester going for you? I hope everything is going alright. You'll have to fill me in if you do the whole "natural birth" thing. I think I'm too chicken to do it on my first baby, but if you're brave enough, I want to hear all about it! :)
