The Yuckiest Thing Ever

About a week and a half before Christmas, Cody and I went to buy our Christmas tree. Like last year, we bought a real tree (only my 2nd real tree of my whole life!) I picked it out. It was beautiful and full and had a really, really long thing on the top that was just quirky enough to put our pretty, new silver star on. It wasn't too poky and didn't smell too much like a pine tree (I don't like pine tree smell) so I was pretty happy with it.

Until the spiders started moving in.

It started with just one. It was in the corner of our dining room, and very, very big and very, very black. Our ceiling is white and doesn't have any blemishes, so I can spot spiders on it pretty easily. I yelled to Cody to come kill it, but he said he couldn't reach it and it was watching him!!! (That's how big it was. You could see the reflection in it's eyes. ok...so maybe not THAT big...but it was big!) We took some treats to a family he home teaches and he said he'd get it when we got back. When we got back about 10 minutes later it wasn't in the corner!!! I started freaking out but I found it in the middle of the ceiling in the living room. I was so scared but I didn't want to lose it again, so I sat down on a chair in the dining room and just stared at it. I was imagining it flying towards my face, growing bigger and bigger until it latched on.. Oh, yuck. I probably have those images in my mind from Arachnophobia...I know that's a lame movie, but it still scares the crap out of me! Eventually it went into the living room ceiling lamp and Cody made me wash the dishes so I couldn't stare at it anymore. After about 20 minutes it came back out and Cody killed it. I made him flush it down the toilet. I know some people don't like to kill them and put them back outside, but if a spider is in my house it deserves to die. If I went into a spider's house I think they'd think the same thing about me.

Fast forward a couple weeks and about 8 spiders later. They WON'T GO AWAY!!! Last night I was half laying on the couch reading the Ensign while Cody was at work when something on then pillow I was leaning on began to move. Yep, another spider. None of them have been as big as the first, but they've all been just as awful. Since I was home by myself I picked up the whole pillow and had to rotate it so the spider wouldn't fall off until I got to the toilet and watched it go down. Stupid spiders ruined the spirit of Ensign reading.

I know a lot of people say they're scared of spiders and most people are like-Yeah, I don't like them either...But I'm not really one of those people. I am ABSOLUTELY terrified of spiders. Not only am I terrified, but I loathe them. I really do. Cody has to remind me that they keep the bug population under control because I usually say something about not being able to wait until I can decide that spiders don't exist anymore.

I was going to put a picture of a spider on here, but...It's my post, and I hate them...So I'm not going to.
Anyone else hate them??

Suzie - Have you ever heard of the Itsy Bitsy Spider song? It says that the Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the WATER SPOUT! Down came the rain (which is the water from the faucet or toilet!) and wash the spider out! Up came the sun (which means the water stopped running down the spout or in the toilet) and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again!! I hope that spider was DEAD when you flushed it!!! Otherwise, you may have a problem!!! I have to tell you that I instilled that reasoning in your mind - that if they are in my house they deserve to die! - because that is exactly how I feel. I couldn't go into the corn field at the farm to get to the garden one time because everywhere I tried to go, there was a huge spider or web or both. I loathe them too! They shouldn't be allowed on earth - or anything other bug for that matter! I think Satan created them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CODY!!! I hope you have a terrifically happy, fun, exciting day! (and our card should arrive in a few days! I just mailed it Tuesday!)

Happy Birthday to Cody! It's good to hear that you can at least dispose of the spider all by yourself because one day when you become a mom and you have to save your baby from the terrible spiders or other equally yucky creatures that roam the earth, you'll be glad that you can deal with it instead of waiting for Superhero Daddy to come home.

ew! I totally know how you feel. During the summer, the health dept sent a notice to everyone in my neighborhood that rats had been spotted in our hood. I've never seen one at my house, but I started "seeing" them everywhere after that. One night we forgot to lock Max's kennel, and in the middle of the night he decided to get out and he jumped on our bed. I totally started freaking out because I thought he was a rat. So did Noah. We felt kind of dumb when we realized it was just our little yorkie buddy.
