One Month Baby

Charlotte turned 1 month old on Sunday. I can't believe it's already been one month already, but at the same time I feel like she's been here forever.

I am excited to be with her everyday. Even though our daily adventures are usually the same, I absolutely love it and never get enough of her. With Chloe and Preslie (mostly Chloe because Preslie was a pretty great sleeper) I would get so sad when it was night time, thinking about how much I was going to be up, feeding, burping and changing instead of sleeping. This time around I'm a lot more relaxed, more calm, and I know that I'll get sleep eventually. I'm not worried about it so much.

I remember one night when I was up feeding Preslie, I just kept thinking about wanting to be asleep. Then I remembered a memory from when I was a teenager. I remembered seeing a mom, burping her little baby, and being so excited to be that mom someday. I couldn't wait to have my own babies to burp. And here I was, doing exactly what I had wanted to all those years ago. After that, getting up didn't seem so bad, and now I've gotten even more accepting of losing that seemingly precious sleep. I get to do something much more precious; tend and take care of my beautiful little baby!

Charlee is a great baby. She hardly ever cries, only when she's hungry and if she wants to be held. And if she is crying and I can't help her right away, she usually just stops and waits until I can. It's like she's saying, "I really need you, but I can tell you're busy right now, so I'll wait patiently for my turn." :)

I don't know how much she weighs or how long she is because we won't go to the doctor for another month.

Chloe and Charlotte just a few days after she was born

Chloe and Preslie just came down with the colds that the rest of the world has, so we're really hoping that Charlotte doesn't get it and stays healthy. They both absolutely love holding her, kissing her, hugging her, giving her her binky, etc. so it's been kinda hard for them to not be able to do any of that.

Charlotte is very squeaky. She has the typical newborn cry that is squeaky at the end of each cry, but she's overall a very squeaky baby. She makes lots of little squeaky noises and it's adorable. I've always called her "Little Goose" and now I think it makes even more sense because of all the little, cute noises she makes.

She is a great sleeper and only wakes up (knock on wood) once a night - and has since birth. It's also usually at 4 or 5 am, so I get a good amount of sleep all at once. She also is a great nurser - my very first baby to actually nurse! I could nurse Preslie at night (when I could trick her into thinking it was a bottle I guess), but Charlotte has been a fantastic nurser since day...2. It seems like day 3 but it was technically 2. She was born so quickly that she had a lot of amniotic fluid still left in her belly, so for awhile she wasn't too interested in nursing. However, I knew she would figure it out and she did! I also think (again) because I was a lot more relaxed this time around and had a better attitude about it, it helped a lot (at least for me. It maybe had nothing to do with how she did). She also doesn't seem to have any food aversions (knock on wood again) so I don't have to give up anything like I did the first two times. Also, I haven't had any problems with mastitis! (do I need to say knock on wood again??) With both Chloe and Preslie I got it within the first month after they were born, so I'm hoping that it won't be too bad this time around. I thought I was getting it a few weeks ago, but I just took a hot shower and tried to work it out and the pain totally went away!

We took a one month photo shoot on Sunday night, but those pictures haven't been edited yet..I can't wait to share them, though! We love our little Char Char (as Preslie calls her) and can't wait for many, many, many more months with her!!!

She is such a cutie. I think the other night was the first time I ever heard her cry.
