Maybe She'll be an Artist

Cody and I have been painting a lot since we've moved in. We've painted the entryway, hallway, living room, music room and office so far. We still have the kitchen, dining room, two bathrooms, master bedroom and girl's bedrooms left. The last room we painted was the office. I wanted it to be a bright, airy and creative space, so we picked a bluish grey color. We spent all night painting it and the trim and had just one more coat of white paint on the trim to go the next morning.

Fast Forward to the next morning.

The girls wake up and I ask Cody if he would get them because I wanted to sleep. He gets up, walks into their room and shouts, "What did you do!? Stacey, get in here!"

(A little background info. Chloe learned how to get out of her room. That night we closed and locked the hallway door and the bathroom door, but didn't lock the office because we wouldn't be able to get in. We also picked up all the paint supplies except the paint trays because we knew by morning the paint would be dry. .....It was, except when you stick your hands in it and stir it up, you get all the wet paint underneath all over you.)

When I went in their room, this is what I found.

Can you tell she knows she's in trouble?

Chloe loves getting in Preslie's crib (which she is not allowed to do) so Preslie was also painted.

And in the office...

Chloe had so much paint in her hair that Cody told her we might have to cut it off. She said, "Like Tangled?" And started screaming hysterically, holding her hands over her hair. Luckily we didn't have to cut it, but it took awhile to get out!

We turned the doorknob around and now when she sleeps, she sleeps as a prisoner, locked in her own room. I think we're all safer that way.

I"m trying to think what blog I recently read (as in less than a week ago) where there was a situation exactly like this, and then they posted lots of other bloggers messes. In comparison, yours is relatively mild. However, I'm wondering what your reaction was when you saw it all. What did you say to Chloe? Did you tell her she was grounded for life? I guess at that age it is still called "time out." Looking back (in 20 years) this will be funny. Mark my words.

:O Wow! I don't even know how I would react. I would be mad! But what do you do with the culprit? Nothing, I guess! Lol. So she sleeps as a prisoner in her own room. Lol, again. I hope you find this funny sometime soon if you don't already. It's a good thing you took pictures.

thanks stacey! the paint color is Time Capsule by Frazee. Frazee is paint made specifically for CA/AZ climates. It is really good quality paint... it can be pricey, but at our store down here they will give customers the construction discount and then it ends up being cheaper than crapy home depot paint. really, you can trust it-- all my rich friends use it.
