Pioneer Day Fun

On Friday night, July 23 (not technically Pioneer Day), we went to Noah and April's ward Pioneer Day Celebration. Noah said they usually do it Saturday mornings with a big pancake breakfast, but another ward was doing it then. Instead they did it Friday night with a big pancake dinner! It was so yummy and I got to eat lots of bacon! :) Ok, not lots. But some. It was fabulous.

Cody and his girls! (Minus me, of course!)
I promise she wasn't mad
Thanks so much for inviting us, Noah and April! We had so much fun with you!

The Living Planet Aquarium

Before I begin, I'd just like to say we made it to Utah safely. We left on Wednesday at 10:30 pm and arrived here at 10:30 am PST. It took us exactly 12 hours and honestly, wasn't too bad! I fell asleep like 30 minutes after we had left (surprise surprise) and felt awful about it. I always feel like Cody will be sad if I go to sleep and I'm scared if he gets tired he won't wake me up. He kept telling me he wasn't going to be sad and he drives from UT to CA and back all the time in the middle of the night. (Which is true. He has done it a million times) The girls were great. We put them to sleep before we left and they stayed asleep when we moved them to the car, until about 1:30 am when we had to stop to get gas. Preslie woke up, I fed her and she went back to bed, but Chloe was up until about 4. I tried getting her to go back to sleep by singing to her, but that would just put me to sleep! I finally gave her a granola bar and after about half she started screaming -Binky! Binky! So we gave it to her and she was out.

We got here and Sister Jack brought us the key to Amy's condo (where we are staying for a month) and some food. SO nice. It was just so thoughtful of her and we were so appreciative!!! My Aunt Cheryl came over later and was a.maz.ing. We were all exhausted and of course Preslie wouldn't go to sleep since she had slept all night and I couldn't handle it anymore! So I called my mom to complain and she called my Aunt Cheryl who immediately went to the store and bought us a ton of food, brought food from her own house, AND got us lunch from Subway. She ALSO brought over a crib and went and picked up a playpen from April and Noah. WOW. I felt so grateful and blessed to not have to worry about all that myself!

***Warning, Warning! Picture Overload!!! ***
I wanted to do something fun on Friday, the last day before Cody left. I wanted to go to Thanksgiving Point to see the animals, but Cody reminded me how it's outside and it was hottttt. So I suggested the aquarium instead.
We told Chloe after her nap we were going to go bye-bye to see the fishies and she would not stop saying fishies! Fishies! Over and over. It was so cute. Finally we were ready and when we got there the parking lot was almost totally full. Then I remembered - It's Pioneer Day Weekend! Everyone has today off! There were a few times it was a little hard to get around with a giant stroller in tow, but for the most part, it wasn't too bad. What Preslie did most of the time. Chloe loved looking in this tank. There were two alligators and fish (the kind in first picture) and a giant sea turtle. She loved the turtle the most. It would swim right by her and she thought it was so funny! The first time it went by she said Whoa!!! And then the second time she said, "I see you!" So cute!Cody and Chloe watching the penguins. It was SO fun and we stayed there the longest, watching them swim around and be funny. We even went back to watch them some more before we left. (Can I say how much I love this picture (above)? She is just so sweet. And seriously. How amazing is my husband??)
Chloe mostly liked watching other people. While all the penguins were going crazy right behind her, she had her back to them and stared down the other people who were actually enjoying them.Too bad there isn't a People Zoo. She would love that!
Anyone else thinking of Finding Nemo?
She loved "driving" the boat and pushing all the buttons!Chloe "being" a froggy. Not too happy she had to get off!She loved all her new friends!
And what's better than a sucker on the way home? (PS this is Chloe's first sucker EVER!)
It was a fabulous day together as a family. I think we ALL loved it! I definitely think we'll be taking the girls back to see the fishies soon!!!

Our Anniversary Weekend

Cody and I had a great time on our anniversary adventure! It started out a little rough, but after getting over that, it was fabulous.

When we checked into our hotel the nice man at the front told us to get in the elevator and "go down." Go down??? We had booked a room with "1 King bed, balcony and golf course view." (I'm not going to name the hotel, just in case someone is affiliated with them. Don't want to hurt feelings. But I'll never go there again) So when he said go down I was a little confused. I was like-Wait, are we in the basement? He said no, we have a patio and our room is very nice.

Yeah.

We open the door to a room that is, honestly, quite nice. Just not at ALL what we had gotten. 2 queen beds, a patio (not a balcony), and no golf course view. No view, actually. There was a hill outside our room...so we didn't see much of anything.

I am my mother's daughter, so I made Cody call and complain. Apparently he wasn't getting through, so I got on the phone to put in my two cents. They said since we booked through priceline, we were only guarenteed a room, not a room type. Except I had called the hotel and asked our room type, to which they had told us the nicer room. Then the next day, Cody came and said he had a reservation (not telling them the room type) and asked to see the room we were going to get. To which they showed him the nicer room. So I was upset because they obviously bumped us down. The lady told us that if they had any nicer rooms they would switch us, but they're completely sold out. I told her maybe she should better train her employees so they stop showing and telling people the rooms they were going to get, if they were just going to bump them down and not get that room type. And I filled out a comment card. Not very nicely.

When we checked out the same nice man from the first day was there, and looking a little afraid of me. I was glad.

Other than that, we had a blast. :)

Of course we forgot the camera, but Cody said we had his phone, so we didn't need it..And then we forgot to take pictures anyway.

After I got done complaining about our room and how awful the hotel is, we went to dinner at TGI Friday's. We wanted to go somewhere that isn't a chain....but all those places are so much more expensive. It was good, anyway. There was a guy there that just went around to tables and made balloon hats for kids. It was fun to watch him and it was fun to talk about how Chloe would've loved one of those...Not loved the guy, but loved the balloons! But since we had no kids with us, it was nice that he didn't come talk to us.

After dinner we went to see Eclipse! I wasn't really excited...I wanted to see a movie but I never really get into the Twilight movies. I don't care about seeing them at midnight and it's not really that exciting for me. Especially with Eclipse I wasn't expecting much or to be too impressed. We almost changed our minds and went to see Grown Ups, but decided to stick with Eclipse.

I'm SOOOO glad we did! I think because I didn't have high expectations, I loved it. I thought it was totally fabulous and loved every second. Well, not really every second. But most of the seconds :) I totally want to see it again and again. It was awesome.

After the movie we went to Albertsons to get breakfast. Because of course our hotel didn't have it - well, that's not true. You could get a continental breakfast for $14. Not joking. Oh, and we had to pay for parking. Also not joking.

So we picked up some cinnamon rolls (and peanut mnm's) and went back to the hotel. I told Cody I was going to stay up until 3 am....but I fell asleep about 30 minutes later. I'm a party animal.

The next day we went to the San Diego Temple to do sealings. It was really nice to go back to the place that we were married to do sealings for other people. Because we didn't come with a group of people, we had to wait a long time so they could see if anyone else would come to do them. But no one did, so we just did them by ourselves. While we were waiting I got to think about the importance of temple work and how excited the people are that we were about to be sealed for. And how cool it is that their sealing anniversary is so close to mine! :)

Everything just seems ok when you're in the temple.

After we did those, we got lunch and came home. It was such a great little trip and we had so much fun together. It was nice because when we got back I was so excited to be with the girls and play with them! I think everyone needs a little break to appreciate your kids more.

I had a great time and I'm so glad to be married to Cody! He's the best husband and father a girl could've ever asked for!!!

The Best Years of my Life

Four years ago today, I made the best decision of my life and married my best friend!

Can I just say how amazing it was to be married in this place?

I feel so blessed to have gotten married here!

That was the last place my whole family was together before Steve and Catheryn died. I've been back, only once, and couldn't stop thinking about that. It was definitely bittersweet. How amazing is this gospel?! No matter how sad it is that they're gone, they're never really gone.

Cody and I have been through a lot of things together, and I'm sure we'll be through many more - good and bad - and I can't wait!

PS Tomorrow Cody and I are going to a hotel to celebrate our anniversary and as our last hooray before he goes to Texas for work. I am so excited! I have tons of stuff planned (like doing sealings in the San Diego Temple!) and I can't wait! It's going to be SO fun!

PPS Sorry some of these pictures are so small. Cody deleted them off our computer and we have them on a disk...packed away somewhere. So I stole these off my facebook profile.

Any Ideas?

I want to start doing "preschool" with Chloe and Preslie....I know Preslie won't be able to really do anything for awhile, but of course we can include her! I want to do an alphabet theme, you know a different letter for each day? Chloe loves singing her ABC's and I think she'd love doing it this way. Has anyone else done this before? Do you have any tips or are there any websites you found ideas on different things to do each day? The only things I can think of doing for today are: Apples, alligator......so I guess we'll be eating apples and drawing pictures of alligators...but there has to be more!

Thanks for your help!
