This time it's for real! A few weeks ago (like 3 tomorrow) Cody had an interview with a company called Solar Turbines. It's a company based here in San Diego and he would be a Field Service Representative for them. He had a phone interview, then a face-to-face interview with 3 people. After that interview another F.S.R. took him on a tour of the building and told him it would be about 2 to 3 months until we heard back.
The waiting began!
Everyone has been so wonderful, praying and praying that he'll get a job soon. It definitely didn't take 2 or 3 months! Today he got an email saying he had been offered the job! What a blessing!!!
He is contracted into staying with the job for the first 3 years, and after that he can decide if he wants to stay or not. He will be servicing, installing, and overhauling giant turbine engines used for power generation or in the oil industry. It has nothing to do with anything solar. They just got the name from the fact that fossil fuels come from plants and animals which live because of the sun. So it's indirectly related. The first year is mostly training on how to do the servicing and stuff, and he'll be traveling. A lot.
The first month of his job (he starts June 28 btw) he'll be here in San Diego. Then months 2-6 will be in Texas. And the girls and I can't go with him.
Major bummer.
I need to keep reminding myself of how much of a blessing this is! But that part does make me pretty sad.
After month 6, he gets to come back to San Diego for the last 6 months. The second and third years he's assigned to one part of the country that covers a big area (ex. if he's assigned to "Anaheim" that could actually be anywhere in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, or Arizona. He would just be assigned a spot and get to stay there, though, so we wouldn't be moving in the 2 or 3 year.)
We don't know where he'll be assigned until later...I'm assuming when he gets closer to starting the second year. However, we do get to put in our top 3 picks with HR so we'll see what happens! I told him today I want our picks to be Chicago, SLC and Anaheim (not necesarrily in that order! I'd loovvvvvvvve to live in UT).
Anyway, that's the exciting news!!!! I'm so proud of him and so excited that this is happening. Thank you, THANK YOU to all of you who have offered prayers and support and so much for us and on our behalf. We feel so blessed and know our prayers (and all of yours!) have definitely been answered. We're so blessed!

Picture Time!
This past Monday, Cody and I loaded up the girls and drove to Carlsbad to meet up with my little brother, Dan, and his fiance, Brooke. Dan served his mission in Carlsbad and took Brooke back to meet some of the people he met while he was there. They were staying with a family that was in one of his wards- the Toolsons.
Dan has always talked about how amazing the Toolsons are, and he's totally right. They're all so super nice and helpful. They fed us dinner, Sister Toolson offered to take both girls so we didn't have to worry about them while we were taking pictures...Which was amazingly helpful because the beach we went to had a million stairs to get down to get to the water, and the tide was SO high most of the time we were running to get on top of the rocks in time before the water got us! (Just got us wet, mom. Not like got us and dragged us out to sea.) And when we got back, they invited us to be apart of their family night and Brother Toolson made "the best milkshakes EVER" according to Cody - and yeah, they were REALLY good! (I'm on WW....and I told myself I'd only have one bite.....yeah, that didn't happen!)
I've come to the conclusion I'm the perfect model for Cody's photography business. I'm tall, slender, and super tan. Who doesn't want those qualities in a model? Exactly. No one. You could basically say I'm the next...

For example :

Poised, elegant...The true definition of beauty. (And look at those legs! WOW! I amaze myself)
I'm only sorry Cody deleted the other pictures he took of me. I'm sure they'd be worth something, someday. PS These pictures weren't edited...So you know I would only look that much better in real life.
A booyah.

Black Canyon
Cody and his brother, Cory (or Kiki as Chloe calls him), went hiking Saturday to Black Canyon. It's about 20 minutes away from our house and they loved it. Cody took some pictures and it looks absolutely amazing! They had a lot of fun and didn't see anyone except one group of guys (who were doing weed and offered them some...So nice of them!) so they basically had the place to themselves!!!

My Dream Job
Lately I've been dreaming of all the things I want to do someday.
*Own a craft store
*Own a flower shop
*Own a bakery
*Own my own hair salon/spa
*Own a cafe
*Etc, etc, etc.
Notice all of the "owning" involved? I've talked to my sister, Amy,
(Super cute, eh? She's the super cute one on the right, and the super cute one on the left is her bff, Carolyn.) about buying a strip mall with me so we can own all of the things we want.....(Including a quilt store, car repair shop and a bookstore) But I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. It just doesn't seem realistic.
Last week, my bff, Alyssa,
(also super cute! I just have lots of super cute people in my life) came to visit me in California. (Told you she's my bff! She was going to come to Rexburg before we left, but got sick. So she made the journey out here from Utah instead.)
I told her how much I wanted to do all these jobs. How much I wanted to do basically every job that involves wearing an apron. I'm really into aprons right now....especially one I saw somewhere on blogland (and thought I saved it...but now can't find anywhere!) that is super fabulous and has a big ol' red bow on the shoulder. (If anyone knows the one, leave me a link so I can make it!)
She told me that I COULD do all these jobs...Because I'm a mom! A mom gets to do it all, while wearing an apron!!! No, I won't be able to own all my own places and I probably won't ever make money off of these things...But I can DO them all! I can cut my kid's hair....after I learn how, of course :), and I can bake as much as I want for them (or our neighbors, because I want to bake a LOT), craft as much as I want, arrange flowers every day if I want to make our house beautiful!
Being a mom is the best job ever, and my perfect dream job!!!
