Dog Poo

There is a woman in the building next to ours that has dogs. Two of them. Small ones. I feel a little sad for the dogs because there isn't a very big area for them to run around and play. But apparently they're fine. However. In our lease it says no pets allowed. I think most apartments have that policy. I don't really care one way or the other because no one in our building has an animal (that I know about). I can't smell any, see any, or be bothered by any. Her dogs are so far away that I don't care if she has them or not.

Until tonight.

Her daughter just brought both dogs infront of our apartment and let them poop in our grass. I watched it happen (I didn't watch the dog pooing-just noticed it was happening) and waited for her to pick it up and take it back to her apartment to dispose of it properly. That never happen. She just turned around and went back home.

I am FUMING. I don't want to be mean to them, and I don't want to make enemies, so I really don't want to pick it up and throw it at their door, light it on fire and leave it on their doorstep, or wait until the open the door and throw it inside (all suggestions by Cody). I do, however, want to make a complaint to our managers (who won't care because they have an animal of their own), make a complaint to the building owners (who probably won't care because their offices are 20 minutes away and they manage a bunch of different properties, or pick it up myself and leave a note that says- I believe this belongs to you.

I want them to know that that little patch of grass is ours. We don't have a lot of grass. That happens when you have an apartment. We don't have that much area to play. And when their dog poos in our little patch of grass, it goes down even more.

So...What's the best choice? What should I do? I dont' want to just leave it without doing or saying something..They will just strike again! If not me, someone else. I need to take a stand. Again, I don't want them to hate me or make me their enemy. But I want them to know it's NOT OK.

When I was growing up, my BFF, Kendra and I would walk her dog, Princess. She ALWAYS, WITHOUT FAIL picked up her poo. I always thought it was SO gross, but I bet those homeowners who were honored to have a little piece of Princess in their lawn were very happy. I wish people here would have the same courtesy.

Miss USA Pageant

*Beware, this is very long and may be offensive to some.
**I'm not trying to be offensive, but if you are...too bad. This is my blog and if you disagree, make your own.

This past Sunday the Miss USA Pageant was held. I was thrilled, of course, and while we watched it I kept score. I wish I hadn't thrown my score sheets away so I could tell you all how I rated the girls...but I did. By the time the final question was coming up, I had rated the girls to know that it was going to be between the winner, Miss North Carolina, and the runner-up, Miss California. (I'm practicing my judging skills so someday, when the Donald calls me up to be a judge, I'll be prepared.)

For the girls final question, I thought some did ok, some did a lot better than others. Miss North Carolina was asked a question about the government bailing out small businesses, and if she thought it was ok for tax payers money to go towards that. She said no, it should go towards education and health care. I thought she did a great job and I believe I gave her a 9.

When Miss California picked her final question, it was for judge Perez Hilton, who is openly gay. He asked a question about whether or not more states, like Vermont, should allow for same-sex marriage. Kudos to Miss California who said, "I think it's great that American's can choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same sex marriage, or opposite marriage. And you know what? In my country, and in my family, I think that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman -- no offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be. Between a man and a woman. Thank you."

Booyah Miss California. Booyah.

It cut back to Perez, who was shaking his head.

This morning, Perez as well as Miss Calfornia, were on the Today Show. Matt first spoke to Perez, who said he expected her to be prepared for her question. He believes she wasn't prepared and that's why she said what she said. He also said he expects a PERFECT Miss USA, and California's answer was degrading to all gays, lesbians, their families, co-workers and support systems. He said a better answer would have been-I"m leaving my politics out of it, but I think it's great for states to make their own decisions on those subjects.

Seriously? Seriously?!

I think Miss California's answer was amazing. I gave her a 9.5 (I don't believe in giving 10's...Although if I did, she would've gotten a great big one). No one is perfect, Perez. Not even Miss USA. I'm sure people recieving money from the government to bailout their businesses were perhaps offended by Miss North Carolina's answer. Why didn't you think about them? Not only was Miss California standing up for herself, her beliefs and her God, she is teaching all the little girls out there watching that it is OK to stand up for yourself. It is OK to say exactly what you believe. I think it is so sad that in the 21'st century, we are still judged by our beliefs. We are still looked down upon if we believe in God. We are judged by those who are homosexual, saying we are closeminded. No, I'm not closeminded. I don't come and persecute you for doing what you do. I honestly don't care what you do! You have your free agency, and I respect that. If you choose to be homosexual, fine. I'm not going to, so I won't eventually be judged for that choice.

I just want to be clear. I DO NOT THINK homosexuals are bad people. I have friends that are gay. I do not know any gays that are mean, horrible people. I don't. I think there are probably some gay people that are..I also think there are straight people that are. I just don't condone their choice to be gay.

Absolutely, without a doubt, Miss California's answer to this question caused her the crown. Maybe the reason I have such strong feelings about this is because this SAME thing happened to me, 5 years ago.

I was participating in the same contest (Just Miss Illinois Teen USA--definitely not the Miss USA Pageant or even the Miss Teen USA Pageant) about 5 years ago. For one reason or another, I knew a question I would be asked was, "How do you feel about same sex marriage?" Because I knew they would ask me this questions ahead of time, I had plenty of time to think of my answer. And it was asked. It was my second question. When the judge asked me, I looked him straight in the eye and said "I believe marriage is ordained of God to be between a man and a woman." End of story. That's what I believe. They ALL immediately looked down and started writing away. And then I knew-I might as well go home. I'm done here. But I was happy I stood up for myself and my beliefs. I was so proud of myself. I knew that if I had said something a LOT more PC, like -As long as everyone is happy, I think our country can be made a better place...I probably would've had a better chance. (I still don't think I would've won-I didn't care about it enough to win. But I would've gotten a better interview score.)

So I just want to say I am SO PROUD of Miss California. Perez said he was giving her an easy question. Giving her an easy way out. Yeah, an easy way to please you. An easy way to please all the people of California who fought against Prop 8. Who still fight against it. Who are closeminded towards US, who believe marriage is for a man and a woman. We live in a country that gives you the freedom to do that. To fight us about this issue. It also gives us the right to fight back.

And don't forget. Most homosexuals are allllllll about President Obama. I am all for supporting our president, and I think most homosexuals are, too. In an interview with Rick Warren, President Obama was asked, "Define marriage." Obama replies, "I belive that marriage is the union between a man and a woman."

So booyah to Miss Calfornia for standing up for what you believe. And booyah to you, Perez. Maybe you should learn how to open your mind a little more.

Cody's New Pictures

Cody looooooooves taking pictures and is so good at it. His new thing is HDR - high dynamic range. He takes 3 to 5 pictures of the same thing and puts them together, making an awesome picture! It turns out looking like a painting. He's been working on these for awhile and has recently taken some that look so cool so I thought I'd share :) These are a couple of cool buildings we found around town.

My Day at the Spa

(I got all these images from their website -- sagedayspa.net)
When Chloe was born, my co-workers had a little going away party for me before I quit my job. They gave me a $60 gift certificate to Sage Day Spa here in Rexburg. I still hadn't used it by Christmas, so Cody put on an extra $40 so I could get the "Chocolate Package." It included an exfoliating body glow-using chocolate-and a chocolate pedicure. I really, really wanted a massage, so instead of doing the package, I just got a massage and the chocolate pedicure. It was $10 more, but sooo worth it.
The girl that did my massage was awesome! It felt so good! She used her elbows and everything--which just made me think of Phoebe from Friends the whole time..You know, when Monica wants a job from that guy, and then he gets high and eats all her food? And then Phoebe gives him a massage at the end and just hurts him the whole time...with her elbows.

This isn't me....But that's what I felt like after (and during) my massage. Ahhhhhh it was fabulous.
When I had my pedicure the girl asked if I wanted a tray of chocolates. Um, yeah! Turned out to be some hard candies, wedding mints and trail mix...but hey, it came with the deal, so I'll take it. I also got some kind of cherry drink-complete with margarita glass, cherry, whip cream, and straw, and they gave me apple juice, too! It was awesome.

I want to go to the spa every day

My Baby was eaten by an Octopus

I was in the kitchen and Chloe was playing in the living room. When I came back, the octopus had eaten her face! Sorry this is blurry-I was trying to hurry before she moved it.

Help me, Mom!!!!!

This is soooo not cool.

To make up for it, I let her play with her bottle.

Trying to drink it...with the lid still on...

Then I found a summer romper outfit. Complete with a hat.

I don't think she was feeling it

At least she has fabulous pink toes

Which she loves.

And I love her!!

Stay tuned for pics of her first food extravaganza. Sweet potatoes and bananas, here we come!

Oh, Cody

On Friday night while Cody and I rubbing feet -- something we do probably every night. I LOVE getting my feet rubbed-- I said, "I don't want to rub your feet...I just want you to rub mine."
C: "You don't have to rub mine if you don't want."
S: "Really? And you'll still rub mine?"
C: "Yeah....But don't stop cause I really won't."

Yesterday we took a walk and Chloe was babbling on and on...
C: "She just said Daddy!"
S: "No, she didn't. She said gaggy. That's not Daddy."
C: "No, she for sure said Daddy."
S: "No, she didn't. But babies do usually say Daddy first because it's easier to say than Mommy."
C: "Really?...How about whatever she says first is who she loves the most. Ok?"

Hahahahaha

I love him.
