A Birthday Tribute

Happy Birthday to April!!! Today is her birthday and because I can't be there to hang out and celebrate, I thought I'd do a birthday tribute post. I did steal all the pictures off of her blog, though, because my iPhoto takes FOREVER to upload photos and I don't know why...It's really frustrating.

Anyway.

This is my sister-in-law, April.

We first met when I was I think 13 or 14. I was in Utah hanging out with my dad and Dan and visiting Noah. One night when Dan and I were hanging out with Noah he said he wanted to take us to meet his friend, April. We went to her apartment and April and I just started talking right away. I told her all about this huge crush I currently had and while Noah was kinda freaking out (not kinda..like a lot) that I'd like boys or hold hands with boys (because I was, of course, only "8") April kept telling him, "She needs experience, Noah. It's ok." I was like-Yes! She's totally on my side and finally, someone who understands me. I knew we'd be friends. A couple days later, my dad, Dan, and I went out to dinner and told Noah to come. He brought April with him. We were all happy to see her again, and then I knew...It was serious. Luckily I was right and Noah and April got married!

Another time when we were visiting Utah we went to April's apartment again. She brought out 2 huge bags of clothes she was going to take to the DI and let me go through them first. I was soooo excited. Some people might be like..Ok that's not a big deal...She was giving them away anyway...But it's free clothes. That are cute, because she only has cute clothes. So I was really excited. She still does this-the last time we went down to visit she gave me a pair of shoes that were too small for her. I looove them and was wearing them today, actually..

They came to Illinois for Christmas after they got married. April brought me a present. It was a scarf she had made herself! I still have it and love to wear it during the winter...Which in Idaho is pretty much year round. It's dark red-my favorite color, which I don't think she knew because it wasn't my favorite color yet- and on the inside she even made her own tag that says "Hip Knits by April Joy Springer" It is pretty hip. I remember feeling so special because she said she used two different types of yarn to make it...I don't know why I thought that was so cool, but I really felt like she cared about me and it was extra, extra special because she used two different types!

April is super, super crafty. She has all these beaaaaautiful scrapbooks-the ones you see in the craft store and think-someday, someday I'll be that good. April doesn't think that. She IS that good. Her scrapbooks made me want to get into it so I could hopefully have scrapbooks like her! She doesn't scrapbook very much anymore, but now she makes a book each year with pictures from that previous year. She sends them somewhere and they make them all into a book. It's so awesome and she does such a good job figuring out how good they'd all look together and where to put them.
After she had her baby, Aidan, who is adorable, she got bored sitting around the house so she decided to do something about it. She took photography classes and sewing classes and now is a pro at both.

(not only great at photography, but also cooking!!!)
(this one shows the cute tag she adds)
I think she should start selling her bags. I'm pretty sure she could make a fortune off of them. Whenever I talk to people about having kids and being bored at home I always tell them about April and how she did something with her time. I hope I can be just like her and have the desire to learn new skills, even with a brand new baby!

April loves to workout.
That's how happy she is about running. She does half-marathons and all kinds of races all the time without even thinking it's a big deal...It's a HUGE deal to me, especially since I can tell you exactly when the last time I worked out was... (November 8, 2007...I'm pretty good at remembering random dates) so to have someone that loves running and gets pleasure from it...I really respect that. It definitely motivates me to be better!!! And she's even motivating her whole family to get into it.

April loves, loves, loves, loves her baby, and dresses him SOOO dang cute.

Um, Hi. How cute is that?! She also loves her dog, Max.
He was her only baby for a long time, and is very easy to love. I doggysat him for a week once when I was in high school and fell in love really fast.

April loves her garden, and espeically loves her gnome. I love hearing her and Noah talk about their pumpkins and carrots..It makes me want to have a garden!

All in all, April is pretty awesome. She's really pretty, really smart, really funny and I love to be around her! She loves her family
and we love her!!!

Happy Birthday, April!!!

Back to School...Back to School...

You know the rest.

School started on Monday. Yippee. I hope you can hear how (NOT) excited I am about that. It's actually been pretty nice though, because I'm working in the mornings now which means way less hours and way less money...but way less stress. So that's really nice. Today after one of my classes I even got to take a nap! It was so exciting!!! It was only for like 15 minutes, but so worth it. I'm taking a class called iComm. It's a practicum which is the alternative to an internship. I'm currently doing iNews which is BYU-I's news. But iComm has all kinds of stuff. They do the student newspaper, the Scroll, they have Alloy, which deals with advertising and PR and organizational comm, they do Rixida which is the dvd yearbook and a bunch of other stuff. So I'm doing iNews which I'm kinda excited about. I was actually really excited about it until I went there and they said we have to be there Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday...and I have conflicting classes Wed and Thurs! So I'm worried about what's going to happen, and I'm already feeling retarded about everything and like a total beginner. Which I am. I'm just intimidated! Hopefully it goes ok. They're having anchor auditions on the 29th but I don't know if I'm going to do it. We'll see. But the majority of my classes I'm actually excited about and think they'll go well.

Cody's also taking a bunch of classes. He's taking 2 really hard mechanical engineering ones (he was taking 3 but I convinced him that was way too much to do AND work 8 hours a day), a religion class with me, and an English class. But the English class is for engineering majors and it's only a block class. So it'll start halfway through the semester. I signed him up for it because I didn't want him to take the 3rd super hard m.e. class, but I didn't tell him until afterwards that he has to write a 30 page paper for it. I told him I'd help him...Even though I know NOTHING about engineering I am pretty good at writing papers and I'm definitely good about making up stuff that sounds right.

All in all, it should be an interesting semester!

Oh, an in my iComm class today I was talking to an old friend. She said she was expecting and I told her I was too and she said-Yeah, I thought maybe, but it's not like you can really tell...And you don't want to say anything unless you're sure...Which was nice, but then I thought, Oh my gosh, I'm that girl..THAT girl. The one you see in the store and say to your friend-Pregnant at 10:00 yes or no?!?! (Do other people talk using the clock as their guide as to where to look? or is that just my family?) It's almost as bad as.. Guy or girl at 10:00?? I can't wait until people can just be like-Whoa, she's pregnant. Maybe not the whoa...cause that implies I'm pretty big. I guess just the-She's pregnant. For sure. Not just fat. I also feel like I'm the only pregnant person that has ever been like this. I've never really noticed people that I KNOW to be pregant getting bigger..until they're for sure pregnant looking. Other pregnant people, did this really happen to you? Or is it really just me?!

Some more details...

So I know at least Paige wants more details about the baby, so I decided to divulge.

I'm 3 months along-exactly 12 weeks and 2 days-. I found out we were pregnant the end of Februaryish and had the way I was going to tell Cody all planned out.. I had bought a little unisex onesie way earlier and had wrapped it and hid it in my dresser so he wouldn't find it. The day I had decided to take a test I woke up at like 5 am and couldn't go back to sleep because I was too excited! So I laid in bed until 6:30 and finally got up and took one and was so excited it was positive!! Only bad news...It was 6:30 am on a Saturday morning! Cody wasn't going to wake up for like 4 hours! So finally he woke up and I gave him his present. I told him it was an old birthday present that I had hid and forgotten about--which I"ve done before so it wasn't anything new. He opened it and had the most blank look on his face ever. He just looked at me...so confused! So I told him-That wasn't an old birthday present, we're having a baby!!!

Hooray.

So we're both very excited and can't wait until October 26 when our baby is due. (I'm really hoping the dr's will be like-Um..you're actually a month farther along than we thought!) (I know that probably will not happen...Like the chances are -5% of that happening...but I can hope)

Everything has been looking awesome so far and we hope it keeps looking awesome. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Those are from when I was only 7 1/2 weeks, so that's why our baby looks more like a....peanut or gummy bear. Depending on which picture you're looking at. Also, in the 1st there is the yolk sac..which has thankfully gone away now because Cody hates that word. Or..those two words put together. By now our baby should (and I'm assumming does) look like an actual baby.

I've been really, really sick..Luckily the dr gave me morning sickness medicine and that's been working wonders. Well, it did for about 3 weeks and then the sickness came back and hasn't quite gone away fully yet. Hopefully by next week I won't have to take any more medicine and it'll just be done. It was so awful to be throwing up all the time! I had to run out of my classes to get to the bathroom in time and once I even threw up in the hallway walking to one of my classes. It was awful. Today I threw up just thinking about having to go to the dentist on Thursday. Weird, eh? And once looking at a girls unbrushed hair made it happen. Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me.

But we're so happy and excited and can't wait to have a baby! We'll for sure post more when more happens and I can't wait for June when we get to find out what we're having! We have names picked out..but will save those for later :)

Hooray for babies!

I tried...

So I had a whole post done, ready to go. I had stolen it from Paige's blog all about her wedding and I just needed to add pictures and it'd be done! However. It took waaaaaaaaay too long and still hasn't loaded. So I'm giving up. Sorry. It probably wasn't all that interesting anyway! :) Maybe I'll do it again someday when I'm not being so impatient.
