Babies on the Brain

I usually don't notice the little floating baby anymore..It's been up for so long it's become kind of no big deal and I forget about it most of the time. I noticed it today. HOLY moly. 26 days. 26 days?!?! We could have a baby before that. That's like...not very long at all! I'm super, super excited about it, but I still dont' really feel like it's real. I can't picture myself really having a baby. I know I'm going to have to, but since nothing like this has ever happened before I have nothing to compare it to and nothing to base it against.

When I was a junior in high school I was invited by a lady in my branch to be there when she had her first baby. I was so, so excited. I knew it would be an awesome, amazing, probably even spiritual experience.

It wasn't. At all.

She was super skinny and her baby was too big. She had to have an emergency c-section, and the only things I remember were her being in so much pain and never being able to get comfortable and a whole lot of really gross stuff coming out. But never a baby. I thought seeing the baby come out would make all the other horrible images just go away...But I never saw the baby come out so the horrible images were all I was left with. After that day I was sure I never wanted to have a baby.

I am sure now that I DO want to have a baby...But thinking about me being like her...super uncomfortable and in so much pain...It doesn't make me very excited. I am still planning on doing it natural - hopefully things work out with that- but I haven't taken any classes yet or anything. We signed up for a hypnobabies class that I heard was just awesome, but after paying our deposit the lady called and canceled on us. We were pretty upset. This weekend we're taking a class at the hospital...But it's only 1 day for a few hours. Is that enough time to really teach us everything we need to know? I'm a little worried.

But I guess in the end when you get something this cute to come home with.... it's worth it.

Update on...Everything

I wanted to give a quick bug update - after that last blog I was really, REALLY upset about the bugs. I had called the landlords and they told me they sprayed in July and they would spray again..I dont' know if they really did, but the bug problem had lessened a little bit. But after that hobo I was quite upset again. I told everyone at work about it and one guy came to my aid! He went home and got some bug spray and brought it back for me. I took it home and Cody sprayed around the outside of our apartment. He said while he was spraying in one spot about 15 spiders ran away from the spray. YUCK! He also looked online and found a natural spray to use inside. We could've used the same spray as outside, but we just wanted to see if the natural one would work. I think it was only soap, water, and lemon oil. Apparently spiders hate anything citrus.

Since then we have had a couple little itty-bitty spiders, but nothing too scary. Hooray! Hopefully it lasts.

At the beginning of the month Cody's family came to visit! It was so fun. His parents brought his little brother, Cory, to school here and they got to spend the weekend with us. While they were here my friends, Alicia, Christine, and Shaylen, threw a baby shower for me. It was such a blast and we played tons of fun games and had lots and lots of yummy food! They know how much I love MNM's and there were TONS there! I still have a bag left from it! :) My favorite game was one where Alicia had asked Cody questions and videotaped him and his responses. She would ask me the same questions and I had to match his answers. The questions were hard!!! She asked how much he thought the baby would weigh and he said, "Well, she's pretty big...So like 9 lbs 5 oz." I was like-WHAT?! That's INSANE! (He meant the baby was big..Not me :) She asked another question of what he was most excited about to have a baby and he said, "Just playing with my little girl." It was so cute. All the girls at the shower "awww'd" for a minute.

I would have tons of pictures to post from the shower, but they were all taken with Tami's camera and something happened to it when we came home! We were so sad. For some reason the memory card kept saying to be formatted and wouldn't show us the pictures, so we dont' have any from that shower. I was pretty bummed.

The next weekend Cody and I went to Utah for another (and last) baby shower! My sisters-in-law, April and Katie, and my sister, Amy, planned a super fun baby shower that was in April's awesome backyard. It was so perfect outside. The weather was just awesome and the food was fabulous and everyone had a great time!! It was so fun to see so many old friends and all the people that came. April is an awesome photographer, so I asked her if she'd take some pictures with our camera. Here are a couple she took with hers.
April made these cupcakes on a stick. She told us not to eat them...So we didn't, but they looked AWESOME! SO super cute.
My sister-in-law, Katie. Isn't she so cute?!
Katie made me a super cute diaper cake. Oh my gosh, it was awesome!!! So pretty!
YUM! Amy made this cake and it was sooooo yummy. And so pretty!!
These are by far my new favorite things of all time. It's a rolo on a pretzel with a pecan on top. OH my goodness. Heaven in my mouth.
My sister, Amy. I love this picture! She looks sooo pretty!
My BFF, Alyssa
I couldn't forget my brother, Noah. He was nice enough to let us have the shower at his house and he even sat through the whole thing! By the end he was sick of hearing just how "cute" everything was...but I think he secretly had a good time.
I'm super bummed we didn't get any pictures of April! I wish I would've thought of that before I put her in charge of picture duty.

Thanks again to Alicia, Christine, Shaylen, Amy, April and Katie for really super fun showers!!! They were both great and everyone had a blast! You guys are awesome!

MORE bugs

Yes, this is another post about bugs. I know, I know..You're probably all like-We know you don't like bugs, get over it already.

I don't think you understand.

This is a SERIOUS PROBLEM.

About 7 minutes ago, I was laying on the couch, slowly drifting off to sleep. I was so happy. I love falling asleep. It's one of my favorite things. I opened my eyes just one more time before I was completely gone and I saw this..thing. SPRINTING towards me. I thought it was just another big, black bug. NOPE. A ginormous spider like the one I had killed with Cody's shoe not too long ago. I JUMPED up, screaming, "OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH!!!" I ran and got a vase (it's my bug trapping device...I just wish it wasn't see-through) and captured it. Oh, you've got to be kidding me. It gave me a contraction. Stupid, lame spider.

I think I'm developing a phobia. Every night, before I go to bed, I have to check my bed for bugs. I sleep with 3 pillows...One body pillow for behind me, one between my legs, and then just a regular pillow, and I check them all for bugs. I pull the covers all the way back and check for bugs. I have to sleep with my hair over my ears because I am terrified that a bug will crawl inside. I used to be very particular about where the covers went (they had to cover my mouth, but not be too close to my nose) because I didn't want a bug to just be able to walk right in. When I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I crawl down my bed instead of getting off (even though it's so uncomfortable and kinda hard) because I can't see the floor to know if I'm going to step on bugs. When I wake up in the morning, and everytime I go to the bathroom, I lift up all the seats on the toilet to make sure no bugs are hiding anywhere. Before I take a shower, I check both curtains for bugs. I always hit my loofah against something multiple times before using it to make sure there is nothing inside, waiting to come out while I wash. And when I get out of the shower, I bang my towel against the wall to make those stupid things fall out. I do my makeup sitting on the counter (I have to admit, it is pretty comfortable and I'd probably do it anyway) because for awhile our sinks didn't have floorboards or baseboards, and I found a bug inside once.

I know. I told you it was a serious problem.

Are all first level apartments like this? It really isn't as bad as it was my last bug post...But I'm pretty sure this is a hobo spider! The second one in our apartment!! (I'll comfirm that when Cody comes home to kill it) I haven't ever been on a first level apartment before, so I don't really know how bad all the bugs are..But it's making me hate this place...Not our apartment so much, but the people in charge of it. I know it's not really their fault...But I need someone to blame it on.

Illinois

After we left California, we flew straight to Illinois...And by straight, I mean leaving Long Beach at 6:30 am, getting to Salt Lake, flying from Salt Lake to Vegas, leaving Vegas and flying to Atlanta, and then leaving Atlanta and finally arriving in Bloomington at 9:00 pm. My feet were MORE than swollen! I took a picture on my camera, but I don't know how to upload those pics on the computer. Luckily the flights went pretty fast...Except from Vegas to Atlanta. That was about 4 hours and I was pretty uncomfortable. We were so happy when we finally got to Illinois!

Amy was also visiting, so we were excited to be with her for a few days before she had to leave. We didn't take as many pictures as we did in Cali, but we did a lot of fun stuff!!

On Tuesday my mom took work off and we hung out and got ready for a baby shower that my mom and her friend, Carolyn were throwing for me that night. It was so fun and a lot of people came! Cody also came..I thought before we went I told him he didn't have to go, but maybe I just thought I said that...Anyway, afterwards when he found out he didn't have to be there he was pretty upset because he thought the whole thing was super boring...But I had a great time! And Cody took some fun pictures, so I'm glad he was there. :)
Me with Sarah and Erin

The super yummy cake my mom made. There was a booty on each piece!

Opening presents

My new, super cute diaper bag from Amy. She got it at Dollywood!! She was so excited and filled every pocket with presents. So cool!!!!

The next day, Wednesday, we drove Amy back to Indianapolis so she could catch her flight home. When we were about 5 minutes from the airport we got a flat tire. We didn't realize it until we got there, so she left and Cody and I found a parking lot to fix it. We put on the spare-after like 20 minutes of trying to get off one bolt...thing..(What are those called?) and went to downtown Indy. We went shopping and then found the Indy 500!! It was exciting and Cody was very happy to be there--even though it was dark and nighttime and nothing was happening.

Back in Illinois we hung out with Sarah and my parents. We played lots of games and ate lots of good food! On Friday Cody, my dad and I went shooting at this really nice shooting range. We didn't get any pictures of that, but it was so fun! My dad filled us in on all the gun info like where they came from and why they were made-it was really interesting and we really liked it! On our drive home from the shooting range we talked about how fabulous Illinois is...ok, so I was really the one talking about it. How awesome it is to just drive between two giant fields of corn and/or soybeans. It's just SO SO SO pretty! I love it there!

On Saturday morning we started the long trek back to Utah. We left at 10 am Saturday morning and got into Utah at 8 Sunday morning! Cody drove the ENTIRE way (because we were driving Amy's car and it's a stick and I am too much of a wuss to drive a stick...) WITHOUT stopping (besides a few bathroom breaks for me and to run around in the middle of the night so he wouldn't fall asleep) so when we got there he was very, very tired.

Some pretty pictures from our drive...

We were going to stop at every Welcome or Goodbye state sign...But we only got the Welcome to Iowa one.

We stopped at Amy's in Salt Lake for about 2 hours and slept and then I drove back to Rexburg. We were so happy to be home after our long trip and this is what welcomed us back!

Ah! So pretty!!!

California Part 2

After the wedding was over we had all day Sunday to relax and just hang out. It was really nice, but when we left early Monday morning we kept saying how we just didn't have enough time there to just be with Cody's family and do some of the stuff we wanted to do. We'll have to go back soon so we can get it all in!!

We went to church and then went home and were just relaxing. This is a pic of me at 7 1/2 months in my only real maternity dress...that is now too small.
Cody got to fly his plane with Seth, which he loves to do, so that was fun, but we didn't get any pictures. Then in the afternoon Cody asked if I wanted to go to the beach. We took Seth because he wanted to fly his plane on the beach, and Cody and I walked on the pier and was saw dolphins!!! I was sooo so so excited. I've never seen dolphins before in real life, so it was awesome. It was really nice to just walk around on the beach and see so many interesting people. We passed one house that reeked of marijuana and found another that was renting out-2 bedroom 1 bath for like 2,000 a month...Holy moly. I'm glad our rent isnt' that expensive!
We went to pick up Seth, and Cody didn't say anything about going to watch him fly or flying himself...Which I thought was a little weird. But I was all planed out, so I didn't say anything to remind him. Then when we were driving home, he got a call-I thought from his mom, but really from his dad- and told him we were coming home right then and then he apologized...Which I thought was weird. I asked him why afterwards and he said it was because we were supposed to be home like 20 minutes earlier. I just figured they had dinner ready and were waiting for us, so I didn't really think anything of it. When we got back, we walked into the living room and everyone was there and yelling, "Surprise!!!" Now I was SO confused. I thought they had done something for Cody, so I kept looking at him like...Why didn't anyone tell me about the surprise so I could be in on it? But then I looked outside and saw pink balloons and presents and baby/pregnant bunting so I was like Oh!!! It's for me! It was so exciting! Cody's sister, Brittany, and his mom had planned a surprise baby shower and it was so, so nice and so super fun!
Everyone that came...Austin and Sara even came!
I loooove presents!!!
Our first, super fun game. It was a memory game and they were all baby words like babysitter, twins, late night feeding, etc. When you got a match you got a candy that corresponded to that word. Like...Dirty diaper was raisenettes, Girl Name was Baby Ruth, babysitter was lifesavers...It was so fun and everyone was excited to get and share a bunch of candy.

Then we played another game where you and your partner (or spouse..expect for Cory and Sara's mom) dressed a baby in a diaper, shirt, hat and socks, but each of you could only use one hand. Both sets of grandparents had a hard time remembering to only use one hand. It was so funny and they were such good sports about it!
His parents did an awesome job!
There aren't any pics of me and Cody doing it, but we had a total plan and did it in only 30 seconds!!! We thought we had it in the bag...Until Cory and Cathy came along and did it in only 28! Austin and Sara dropped the baby...So we told them we added on like 15 seconds for a penalty.

That night I really, really wanted In-N-Out before leaving, so Cody told me if I stayed up past midnight (which some people might not think is a big deal...But is super hard for me!!!) then he'd take me. I did it! So at 12 Cody, Cory and I all went there. YUM. It was fabulous.

The next day we left really early, and in the airport, I was watching people board our flight when I realized our friend, James, was getting on! He saw us later and we were all so excited! James was Cody's roommate when I first met them, so we all used to hang out together all the time. Even when Cody moved back to California my friend, Alyssa and I would hang out with James a lot. When we finally got back to Salt Lake (the first of our 4 flights of the day) we took a pic together. Reunited!!

Yesterday I did my first load of baby laundry. I got all the white clothes and burp rags and anything white and washed it all with our special baby laundry detergent that Cody's mom bought for us. It was so exciting! I was really worried at first because I didn't want any of the colors to bleed-especially on the super cute white sweater Amy bought for us- but luckily they all came out looking beautiful and feeling super soft! I know doing laundry isn't that exciting, and I'm sure someday soon I'll be like-UGH why do I have so much laundry to do?! But today it was very exciting. And, I won't lie, I held on to the little onesies when I was folding them and pretended there was a baby inside.

Oh, so excited!!

California Part 1

A few weeks ago Cody and I flew to California for Austin and Sara's wedding. We left our house at 2:00 AM Thursday morning, and got to Noah's house in SLC at 5:30. I slept the whole drive, but Cody hadn't slept at all. He slept a little bit on the couch and then Noah took us to the airport around 6:30. When we got to Cali Cody was super tired, but instead of sleeping, he went with all the boys to San Diego for Austin's all day bachelor party. They went to a wave...place...I dont' remember what it was called. But it looked like a lot of fun from the pictures! There aren't any pics of Cody because he was the one taking them. But he got a lot of good ones of everyone else!

Cory

Seth

Austin

They all said it was really hard, and they figured that because there were so many people there and everyone had to take turns, plus the fact that they would wipe out so fast that they each got less than 2 minutes actually doing it. But they all had fun!!

While Cody was there I was hanging out with my dad. He went to Cali to visit my grandparents, so we went out to lunch and just talked for a while. It was so fun! Then he drove me around all his old hangouts and the church where he was baptized and told me a lot of funny stories from when he was a teenager. Oh, Dad. :) We went to my grandparents house and my Uncle Joe was there, so it was nice to see everyone. Joe took me home, but not before driving past GWEN STEFANI'S parent's house so I could take pictures. She grew up there and was friends with my uncle (He's 16 years younger than my dad, or I'm sure he would've been friends with her, too)

The next few days were spent getting ready for the wedding. The reception was going to be in a park behind Cody's parents house, so they had a big tent with a dance floor in the middle. The wedding was at the San Diego temple which was awesome because that's where Cody and I got married! So it was fun to relive it a little bit.

Our niece, Madi, and Cody's dad

Their super cute wedding cake

That was all the fun wedding stuff!!! I'll be back for California part 2 later :)

FINALLY!!!

Ok, I promise I didn't give up blogging forever. Cody and I went on vacation on Aug 14 to California and then straight to Illinois. We got back on Sunday, August 24 and realized...our internet wasn't working! It was a HUGE hassel and didn't get turned back on until YESTERDAY! It was off for almost 2 whole weeks and it was awful the whole time. But now it's on again, thank goodness, and I have tons of blogging updates to make. Too bad I have no idea where the camera cord is, or I'd be doing it right now! I promise to be back soon and I'll have lots of fun things to talk about! :)
